IN THE FACE OF THE STORM

One thing I feel today, even though it’s not in a physical way (in fact, to the contrary) is a unity among all humans in this world. I’ve read so many inspiring posts and feel we are getting closer even though we are so far apart.
For the first time in eight years I’m operating The Vintage Round Top without a full time operations and marketing manager which breaks my heart, brings me fear and excitement at the same time. In addition our family moved into a new rental home here in Austin a few weeks ago as well as cleaned and organized four storage units in Houston and Round Top. So…to say we’re physically and mentally exhausted, would be an understatement. And, sadly – the house we planned to build on a beautiful piece of land we bought here in 2018, will not be built as we will be trying to sell that property to help ease the financial strain.
This is happening all over the world. We all have our own details and stories, but they all have the same traumatic impact. No one is immune, so we are praying for all to stay healthy and to get through this seismic shift in our lives. It’s definitely got Smoot and I talking a lot about what we can do - What’s our special purpose? How can we help? What kind of positivity can we try to provide?
Here’s what we came up with –
1st - We have a beautiful space in the country to offer others that is filled with peace and inspiration for anyone in need and able to take respite in during these unprecedented times. We’ve always been grateful for the opportunity to host guests and events on our property. But, now more than ever – we feel being able to share our space for others to get away from their own four walls will be a way we can help. 2nd - We offer modern vintage products in our online shop that can bring warmth and soul into your current living environment.
3rd - We can provide inspiration and information through our social channels on interior design, lifestyle, business, etc.
“Living With Intention” has been our motto from day one. And, boy do we need this now…more than ever!

Also - in the coming weeks we will be giving away three stays to 1) a family, 2) a future business retreat, and to 3) a married couple to use as a honeymoon (to replace one that was cancelled due to the pandemic).
