TEXAS MONTHLY ON ROUND TOP + A FEW OF OUR TIPS FOR MEDIA
Paige Hull
Recently, we were included in the December 2017 issue of Texas Monthly alongside a handful of our friends; Bad Hombres, Townsend Provisions, Curate by Stash, Humble Donkey Studio, Dapper Deer Co, The Garden Co, Bistro Napolenta and The Wander Inn. To our delight, the article featured our beloved town of Round Top, Texas as a year-round destination, a reputation that has been in the works for years! Not only has media been an important part of spreading the news about the town of Round Top, it has also been an integral part of growing The Vintage Round Top. Below you'll find a few our tips we've learned along the way.
If you're a business owner or marketing professional, then you know how much of an impact press can have on your growth. For us, our experience has been two-fold; growing our business and spreading the word about our community here in Round Top. We have seen the town transform from a bi-annual antique hub, to a welcoming town that has something for everybody year round. Our friends featured above, plus many others, have been an integral part of feeding this growth and inspiring more businesses to follow suit.
Press can be a sparkplug for something way beyond a glossy picture in a magazine and we wanted to share a couple tips we have learned when it comes to garnering press for your small business.
TELL YOUR STORY
Whether you have been approached by a magazine, or are trying to pitch your story to a contact - be sure you are doing just that, telling YOUR story. What's your mission? How does that set you apart? Craft something that will evoke emotion and keep the publisher interested, after all, they do this on the daily and are constantly reading pitches.
CONNECT YOUR COMMUNITY
We don't call it the "Round Top Magic" for nothing, this community is an incredible thing to be a part of and we love to shout our love for it from the rooftops. Press has the ability to reach far and wide, so when and if it does, make sure you're sharing the love with the community that has helped get you to where you are today.
SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY
When Emily Henderson approached us to partner together for the Fall Show, we were nowhere near as ready as we wanted to be to host her and her team. However, ready or not, we weren't about to pass up the opportunity. It's imperative to learn to be scrappy and recognize when to seize an opportunity. We fast-tracked our Boho construction and polished it off right as Emily and her team were stepping foot onto the property.
We are incredibly thankful for all of the press we have received and can't wait to share some exciting projects we have in the works with you all soon! If you want to learn more about pitching to press - join us at our Spring Business, Branding & Social Media Workshop on March 24th.
