THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOALS & DREAMS
Paige Hull
Happy New Year! Our resolutions have been made, our goals have been set and our dreams are bigger than ever. It's about that time we ask ourselves.... what is the difference between our goals, and our dreams? Is there even a difference? If you ask us, there is.
We all have dreams, but what sets those dreams apart from goals is an actionable plan that will help you get to where you want to be. If you don't take action dreams are just that, something that is far off and never a reality. Below, we've listed some ways to help turn those dreams into goals with an easy-to-make plan of action.
1. Set Small Goals
Alright so you have your big dream, but how are you going to get there? You might want to ask yourself a couple questions such as; what needs to be done before I reach my overall goal? What would the benchmark be for success, and how can I measure my growth? Use the answers to help set smaller goals that will measure your achievement along the way and focus on making those dreams much more realistic.
2. Hold Yourself Accountable
Dreams don't work unless you do. Remember throughout this process there will be times when you want to give up, where you think your dreams might be a little too big. Don't stop working - don't let doubt crowd your vision. Hold yourself accountable by checking in with friends and family, or online through blogging about the experience and what you've learned along the way.
3. Know Your End-Goal
The problem with dreams is that they are ever-changing, and are hard to define an ending for, which is why dreams are usually difficult to accomplish. Create an end-goal from your dreams, what is the point that will cause you to stop and say "I've made it!" If you don't have the finish line in mind, you'll never cross it.
We hope these tips help you work towards achieving your dreams this year! If you're ready to take the next step in growing your business, brand and social media, we'll be going more in-depth on subjects such as this during our Business, Branding & Social Media Workshop taking place on March 24th.
