TRAVEL JOURNAL: THE VINTAGE ADVENTURE, PARIS PART I
Paige Hull
When I sat down to write this post, I knew right away it would have to be split into two parts. There were entirely too many photos and experiences to share. So, welcome to Part I of our Paris Adventure.
Smoot again outdid himself in finding accommodations through air bnb that were convenient, stylish, and perfect for a family of five. Well, almost perfect. Our amazing penthouse flat was on the fourth floor - with no elevator! We couldn't be too upset when we were greeted with this gorgeous two hundred and twenty five year old staircase with the most perfect patina I'd ever seen.
The rest of the apartment was total Modern Vintage with quirky angles, rustic beams, plaster walls, modern light fixtures, comfy couches, and air conditioning. We were thankful we'd put AC on our "must" list since Paris was experiencing a heat wave and it got up to 100 degrees a few days we were there.
The streets of Paris were magical with iconic scenes, architecture, and amazing food at every turn. Our eyes, ears and bellies were full after each day's adventure making it hard to get enough sleep to be able to get up and do it all over again the next day. But, we forged on and covered every inch of this amazing city.
Since this was a vacation, slash, business trip - shopping was scheduled into each area we visited. We bought from small local shops, flea markets, wholesalers, etc. We included a few store front photos of our favorite shops in case you're heading there any time soon.
We brought back a few items we could fit into our suitcases, but have our main shipment due in the port mid-October. Here's a small sampling of what we found. If you're on our mailing list, we're sending a 15% off coupon code for all of our European Treasures. If your're not on our list, click here to subscribe!
We had a set schedule each day with enough room to be able to veer off when something caught our eye. Traveling with a 10, 13 and 19 year old can be a little tricky. Especially since subways and walking were our main mode of transportation. Hailing cabs with 5 people can prove to be exhausting, so our oldest came up with the idea of calling Uber when needed. We all thanked her for her brilliant idea profusely!
This shot is a sneak peak of the next post which will include the iconic tourist attractions we visited as well as all of the museums and the amazing sunset river boat tour. So, check back next week for Part II of The Vintage Adventure: Paris!
