A DAY IN ROUND TOP - TEXAS ANTIQUES WEEK JOURNAL 1
Paige Hull
It's our favorite time of the year, Texas Antiques Week! We have been having so much fun catching up with friends and gathering inspiration from the amazingly talented creators and vendors that converge around our little town of Round Top twice a year. Since we are finalizing finishes and details in the addition, the timing could not be better for Antiques Week. We have the best selection of everything old and beautiful right outside our door!
We made a journal of one of our days of shopping to share.
We started our day at EXCESS, one of our favorite Round Top antique shows. We always stop by the KB Design booth and absolutely loved his monochromatic vibe. We’re especially fond of the leather bound tree stumps and branches! Believe it or not, vendors will spend days setting up their booths just to sell for a week or so.
Next, we crossed the street and stopped by Southern Beasts. Our dear friend Mary Lou is a very talented artist. She uses antique fabrics, tapestries, costumes, trims and embellishments to make her creatures and top hats. I’m seen here with my best shopping partner, my daughter! We had so much fun trying them all on and making memories.
On the way out of EXCESS, the back of this van caught our eye…turns out it belonged to another of our favorite vendors “Hector the Collector.” He’s a legend around here. We can only imagine all the treasures stuffed inside…and we will be back to see what they are!
We then hopped over to the Texas Rose Show. Not only is this a great show, but Vickie (pictured above) also runs a charming restaurant on premise. She sells the greatest collection of fabrics and notions you could ever imagine. And the food...well, it’s our must stop for the best sandwiches and sweet tea in Round Top!
Our last stop was The Compound. This is one of the newer shows, and one of the nicest. The owner of the show, Mark Massey runs a first class operation with outstanding vendors. We especially love Eneby Home (pictured above). They have the coolest selection of true European offerings that will make your heart race with pure joy!
