Collections 02 Featured in PaperCity
Paige Hull
I had a cup of coffee in hand and started my usual morning email check. And…what a lovely surprise to have seen Collections 02 right in my own inbox in the PaperCity Round Top newsletter!
PaperCity has always been a top “go-to” resource of ours for what’s on point in Texas. Simply put, the magazine and its website are trusted local must-reads for what’s new, and what’s “now” and it’s my way of keeping up with the kids, so to speak! I’m sure it’s no surprise that their home & design coverage has always been my favorite, and their incredible art editorial.
FUN FACT: The modeling agency I ran (for 20 years) in Houston was a floor above PaperCity’s office on Kirby and Westheimer, so it’s extra amazing that our old friends and colleagues have all landed in this magical town of 90 full time residents.
As a reader and fan, we are always BEYOND thrilled to be included in PaperCity’s editorial coverage on Round Top. We have been fortunate enough to be amongst their recommendations in their April 2014, September 2015, and March 2017 stories on the spring shows. Anyone who has walked around Round Top lately knows you can pick up a copy of the latest magazine extension — PaperCity Round Top — and if you made it to the spring shows, perhaps you were guided by their excellent coverage or within their new show spaces “The Halles” directly across the street from our RVT Properties.
Just this past week, our very own Collections 02 was picked up for this online feature, also highlighted in the PaperCity Round Top newsletter. Collections 02 is the second of a series of online pop-up shops we have started hosting for those looking for home décor touches that mirror the style captured in our properties. It’s truly a collection of our own hand-made product lines, antiques and flea market finds from our European and US travels, and of course, Round Top, plus a special nod to custom ceramics from the notable Style Union Home – check out the story behind it all here. (Special note: our Style Union Home collaboration launches our Shop Where You Sleep program, where our property guests can purchase the special pieces seen throughout each RVT space at a discount during and after their stay).
Needless to say, my morning cup of joe was all the tastier when I got to read the story by Courtney Dabney, which reminisces on our beginnings and how our web shops really got started. I say all the time, it was as simple as the constant ask from our guests, “Where did you find this?” “How can I get this look?” Many times, people asked about a larger piece of furniture. But so often, questions were simply in the details that made the space ours, from antique cameras and the signature swiss army collection featured at the start of PaperCity’s online piece. And yes, the story includes my self-proclaimed call out as an antiques and flea market find hoarder. Old habits die hard, but mine is fading out as we bring our Collections to the public to make their own. What makes Collections 02 different, also as the article points out, is the inclusion of special collaborations: the ceramics from Style Union Home and beautiful bath products from The Butcher’s Daughter. One of my newer additions from our own line are the extension of new wine totes and also our branded lavender eye pillows – after 2020, we all deserve a little extra like a beautiful eye pillow.
Thank you to PaperCity and Courtney Dabney for shining a light on the latest addition…Collections 02. It is truly a mix of the old, the new, and so modern vintage. Shop the Collections here!
