MARBURGER FARM - LOOK BACK, LOOK FORWARD
Paige Hull
We LOVE and SUPPORT every venue and vendor during the two large antique fairs held in the spring and fall. However… are a bit partial to one — Marburger Farm Antique Show! It’s one of the two largest venues that open the last week, have an entry fee, and incredibly curated booths with predominantly high end vendors. The other show is The Original Round Top Antique Show and they are for a different story.
The reason for our partiality is we became vendors at Marburger Farm in 2013 + 2014. I’ve linked the two blog posts about the booths and the story behind them. But, the short version is we had the amazing opportunity to be mentored by Tim + Carol Hicks Bolton to learn the ropes of becoming a vendor. Earlier, I traveled with them to France to shop the European markets.
Smoot and I decided to do two shows with the merchandise I brought back from Europe as well as handmade products we designed. Our focus was on meeting people and getting our name out since we had just opened the property a year before. At the fall 2013 show, Tim came to Round Top to help us set up our first ever booth and hold our hands that first day.
We’ve learned so many lessons since that show that have been invaluable. And some of the people we met became our best friends and repeat customers. I hope you’ll click to read both of the blogs I wrote back then to gain the insights I shared and see the images of our labor of love!
A LITTLE INSIGHT + EYE CANDY INTO MARBURGER FARM:
Marburger Farm was owned by the same family since 2007 and was acquired by Brook Partner’s out of Dallas a year ago. Brook Partner’s also owns and operates the Dallas Fashion Industry Gallery and the Dallas Art Fair.
They’ve naturally brought in more art vendors, as well as hand made and new merchandise. That’s a big change as Marburger Farm was one of the only shows that from the beginning stayed true to their vendors selling only vintage and antiques. In fact, they had an antique authenticator make his rounds throughout the show.
The change is exciting as it provides shoppers a larger array to choose from. I had a chance to swing by the opening on Tuesday and am sharing just a few snaps below.
Make sure to add them to your list if you are in town the last week of each show.
