#RTTX 02 - LARK
Paige Hull
Welcome back to our second #RTTX feature, where we will highlight a local Round Top business and share with you what makes our little town so special.
Lark is located on Town Square. It is a gift and art shop and has some of the most gorgeous displays I have seen. The mica display is hands down one of the most creative and unique and gorgeous use of natural elements in decor. Barbara and Russel run Lark together and both show their art in the shop. Russel began working with stone and is now on to jewelry, he said it was easier to travel and bring his art with him; and art it is! His pieces are stunning.
Barbara creates jewelry out of found objects. They are unique and even prettier in person, if that is possible. The shop is styled by Barbara and utilizes many pieces found in her native Minnesota. Birch trees are scattered throughout the shop and seamlessly integrate with the many wonderful products for sale.
The shop got its name, Lark, by being one of Russel's favorite birds and frequent subject of his sculptures. They are exquisite. While Barbara and Russel run the shop together, they keep separate studios and their work compliments one another. as only a husband and wife team could. Smoot and I both love working with other couple teams, we get to share what we love and it shows in Lark, that they do as well.
Not only does Lark serve our community as a local business, Barbara and Russel also collaborate with others. makers and creators. They collaborated with us on the Round Top Christmas Home tour a few years ago. Barbara helped style No.1450 and it came out so perfect and really emulated her natural style, while keeping in line with ours, a Modern Vintage take on Christmas decor. We even wrote about it!
In addition to their jewelry, they have a curated selection of home goods, paper goods and gifts that definitely make the trip in worth it. We feel so lucky to have such an amazing shop that calls Round Top home, looking forward to more collaborations and amazing pieces from this creative duo.
