RVT COLLECTIONS 02 – LAUNCHING JUNE 10th!

It’s funny how sometimes when you collect things, you also collect memories. Better yet, some of those things have had memories and lives of their own when they’re antiques.

When we shared our very first RVT Collection, RVT Collection 1, we spoke to the idea and our why behind our latest online web shops, Collections. RVT Collection 2 shares the same spirit: we wanted to dig into our archives and find special pieces from our entry into the world of antique dealing many years ago. But we also wanted to ensure the modern side of our modern vintage style with more modern, crafted pieces, some handmade works, and also vintage pieces from Round Top, of course.

A few years after we started our brand we made our first family buying trip to Europe scouting flea markets and antique stores, our three children ranged in ages from 8-16. Of course, we thought it would be amazing to give them family memories of Europe, but we also wanted to pass along to them the reverence for the past that Smoot and I shared. And perhaps most importantly, we wanted them to see our hard work firsthand. Our family business was for our family, each other and our children. We wanted to instill in them that every new venture takes more than just passion, but also drive and determination. As they say, the dream is easy, but the hard work and hustle are sold separately.

When I look back on these particular items in RVT Collections 2 that we found on our most recent buying trip to Amsterdam and France, I can’t help but think about the memories we collected. When we first started back in 2012 it took a while for the kids to find their joy in the effort – but long ago we gave them $20 each and they started their own collections that represented what they loved. All of these old, wonderful treasures hold memories, and the memory of how we found them is treasured by Smoot and I, which makes us so happy to now share them with you.

The more modern touch in RVT Collections 02 comes from our collaboration with Style Union Home. (Learn about how the partnership came to be here!). When you think of ceramics, what comes to mind? Well, Style Union Home shakes that up. The decorative items, vases, tableware are so many things I am not sure where to begin. Cool, conversational, stand-out…and just…special. Made by master ceramicists, they are truly made from the hand and you see a whole lotta heart. Who wouldn’t want that kind of energy filling their space? We did, and seven pieces now live in our RVT rental properties. It was the start of our Shop Where You Sleep collaboration, so that our property guests – who always want to know where our décor was found – can now literally shop where they sleep (see what we did there?). These seven pieces are highlighted in RVT Collections 02, and can be purchased directly from our website.

And lastly, our RVT Collection 02 wouldn’t be complete without a little vintage and a little custom RVT. In this particular Collection we are launching heavenly lavender eye pillows, from linen fabric as soft as can be. You’ll find other custom fabric items, from wine bags to aprons and more, alongside our much loved Swiss Army collection first highlighted in The No. 1450 property.
