SPICED CIDER
Paige Hull
It's finally fall and although the weather isn't as crisp in Texas as it is in other parts of the states, it is still much cooler than the summer heat. So at the first hint of fall weather, we love to make spiced cider. The whole family loves it and it takes just under ten minutes to make.
Spiced Cider Recipe
Makes a half gallon
Ingredients
16 whole allspice berries
6 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg
1 orange, sliced into rounds
1 jug of apple cider, 32 ounces
Directions
Place the allspice berries, cloves,, cinnamon stick and grated nutmeg into a coffee filter and tie it up with twine. Pour the apple cider into a large pot and place the spice pack and four orange slices in. Heat the cider on medium heat until it just begins to boil, about 8 minutes. Serve with a cinnamon stick and a slice on orange. Keep the pot of cider on the lowest setting to keep it warmed.
Enjoy!
