WHERE TO SHOP NOW: HOUSTON, VOLUME 1
Paige Hull
Modern Vintage decor is about accessible elegance, a mix of high to low, and always a sense of comfort that increases connections to family and friends in your home. Pieces are frequently repurposed. Modern Vintage Decor evokes conversation through the stories that each piece has to tell.
We are frequently asked where to shop to create The Modern Vintage Look. Needless to say, our reliable go-to's for vintage are the Round Top Antiques Fairs, as well as local fleas markets and vintage shops. Houston is the closest metro area to us and filled with thoughtfully curated boutiques. Here are my top five, right now. Look forward to future editions!
1. KUHL LIPSCOMB, 2424 W. Alabama St
For an eclectic mix of modern and vintage decor, Kuhl Lipscomb has it all. This one-of-a-kind sprawling "boutique" boasts a massive main store with a village of specialty shops that include five buildings on one block.
2. MANREADY MERCANTILE, 321 W. 19th St.
For men's accessories and apparel, leather goods, apothecary and general gifts. Handsome and masculine, yet a store women love.
3. Back Row Antiques, 8570 Katy Freeway
For vintage goods, curiosities, and a hip nod to older times. Three vendors, easy-to-navigate, and something for everyone.
4. Biscuit Home, 1435 Westheimer
For bedding, the most darling home accessories, gifts, and more. Colorful and chic, and never kitchy- it's always fun to look around. And be sure to take a picture outside of their landmark paint wall!
5. Shabby Slips, 2304 Bissonnet
For high-end antiques, and an array of luxury accessories. Plus an in-house design team.
