There’s nothing more nostalgic than the smells of Christmas! They connect you with the magic of the season. For us, there are two ways to best achieve this goal - buying a real tree each year is a must (and recycling it) plus this simple Stovetop Simmer that is sure to do the trick. Not only does it smell amazing, but it’s also gorgeous to look at too!

First off, how are you guys? What a crazy year it has been!?!? Unfortunately, for us Hull’s, this year was preceded by four really tough ones. So, we are trying to keep our heads and spirits up and innovate and pivot like so many others.
One way of doing so is by kicking off a new web-shop series coming this Monday, called RVT Collections!

We’re thrilled to offer our RVT curated collection of ceramic tile coasters handcrafted by Forrest Middelton of FLM Ceramics!!!
We first met Forrest when we stumbled on to his incredible line of tiles when building the Boho cottage. We used the Asia line in our extra bathroom (shown in some of the images below).

When Smoot and I started The Vintage Round Top in 2012, it was a second business to our main income generator, State Contractors…and still is! It allowed us to make unique decisions that we would not have otherwise been able to do if it had been our bread and butter. One of those things was using this new business as a way to give back in as many ways as possible.

My mother's day, as most others, will be very different this year! We won't be able to participate in the same traditions, however this one will definitely be sweeter and more meaningful than ever.

One thing I feel today, even though it’s not in a physical way (in fact, to the contrary) is a unity among all humans in this world. I’ve read so many inspiring posts and feel we are getting closer even though we are so far apart.

I love the space where modern and vintage meet. For us, it is a lifestyle and a design style. It’s a lifestyle that embraces the balance of modern thoughts, ideas, and conveniences and timeless stories, sustainability, and slow living. And it’s a design style that pairs unlikely items together to create something beautiful and unique.

March has been a really weird month. We went from having big plans for Round Top’s Spring Antique Show to everything for the show being cancelled and getting confined to our homes. So, I’m feeling extra grateful for all the inspiring images that have come across my screen over the past month. Here are some of my favorites - hope they bring you inspo too!

I think we can all agree that this past week has been one of the craziest EVER! We are all navigating the unique challenges that have come up from the Coronavirus and, on top of that, Smoot, the kids and I just moved into a new house! That’s right, this past weekend, just as the spring antique show was cancelled, we were moving 20 years of stuff along with two businesses that we run in a home office, into a new house. It has definitely been overwhelming, but I’m choosing to focus on bringing balance into my life and my family’s life in the midst of all this chaos.

As you may already know, before starting The Vintage Round Top, I had a 22-year career in the fashion industry working as the Vice President at Page Parkes Models and Smoot has owned and operated a variety of successful restaurants and night clubs. So, to say we familiar with all things press related would be an understatement. We were newbies, though, when it came to the interior design industry when we first started The Vintage Round Top in 2011.

The Eisley Cottage is one of the two Cozy Cottages we added to our property about a year ago. This cottage is named after our sweet and youngest daughter, Eisley. Our kids have been a part of this journey since the beginning, so we wanted to create spaces that reflected who they are. Not to mention, they love getting to stay in their very own space when we take a weekend trip to Round Top.

Smoot and I still pinch ourselves daily that we get to work in this creative business with so many talented people. It became very clear early on that we loved collaborating and working with others - may it be on an interior design project, an event or retreat, photo shoot or anything in between. We’ve developed long term relationships with so many of the folks we’ve been blessed to work with.

The Great Room in the Boho Cottage is one of my favorite rooms. It makes a statement with its length and the beams lining the ceiling and, at the same time, has a number of cozy little corners that are perfect for quieter moments for our guests.

I try to take any opportunity to show my appreciation and love to the people near and dear to my heart. I absolutely would not be where I am today without the 20 years of support from Smoot, our precious kids, my sweet friends, as well as the incredible community of Round Top. So, when Valentine’s Day comes around, I get excited to gift little tokens of love to my favorite people.
